Clutter Fix: Help with Organizing Your Closet

Finding the time to organize your closet can be frustrating. Here we will give you some tips on how to manage the clutter and get organized without the stress.

Have you ever found yourself always running late because you can't find anything to wear in a closet FULL of clutter? Do you know you need to get organized but can't seem to find the ways to get there? Well, you have come to the right place. Here we will list off some of our favorite ways to get organized!

#1 Pick a Space

The first step is pretty obvious but still important. Pick one space at a time in your home to organize.

Working on one space and one space ONLY can help you from becoming overwhelmed. The more you take on at once the MORE likely you are to give up!

#2 Stop Adding to the Chaos

The key is to stop buying or bringing home unnecessary items that just add onto the mess that you already have.

If it is not going to serve a purpose in your home odds are you probably DO NOT need it. The goal here is to declutter NOT re-clutter.

#3 Declutter

The decluttering step is the most crucial to becoming more organized. Although it can be challenging, it is so important to rid yourself of things you no longer need or use.

It is almost impossible to organize an area that is TOO cluttered. Learn to let go of those jeans you fit into back in high school, or your favorite socks that have way too many holes in the soles.

Sell or donate old items that are just taking up too much space in your home. Letting go of things can be challenging, but think of how much better your everyday life will be when you are more organized.

#4 Organize, Organize, ORGANIZE!

Now that you have picked your area and decluttered it, its time to start the organizing process. This part takes time so do not rush yourself.

Dig up some old storage bins in the basement and put them to good use. Make sure to have a designated spot for certain items so you do not lose or forget where you placed them. Do what works for you!

Once you are finished sit back and give yourself a pat on the back for all the hard work you just accomplished!

#5 Organization Goals

So now you have a clean closet (or any area for that matter), lets keep it that way! Set up goals for yourself and try not to allow the clutter to build back up.

Try to make it a point that maybe once a month, or every other month you go through and rid yourself of things you no longer need. The goal is to not only get organized but to STAY organized.

This may be a lot of information to take in at once, but if you take it one step at a time and set up goals for yourself you are sure to become organized in NO time!
